I love Apple!

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. I’m an Apple fan. There, I said it. I was thinking back through the years of all the Apple products I’ve purchased and I can easily make the case that I’ve done my part to support the folks at One Infinite Loop in Cupertino, CA. Read on for my list of products and why I’m such a fan.

Straight to the Core

Being in a design profession, Apple has always been very friendly to graphic designers and other creatives. For whatever reason, the software and hardware work well together and Apple (Mac) users have fewer issues with their machines than their PC using counterparts. In my career, I have used PC and Mac for design work and can say that my experiences with Apple are far superior to those times when I used a PC. The Apple systems didn’t crash. I can’t say the same about the PCs.

Apple, especially under the watchful eye of Steve Jobs, focused on creating products that functioned well and looked beautiful. Every item Apple has designed has a unique look and feel to it, something that begs to be admired or even placed in a museum.

Biting the Apple

Apple is far from perfect and many of the Apple naysayers have no problem talking about Apple’s problems. I’m an Apple advocate and I have no problem talking about the issues I have with the company. First, Apple products are notoriously expensive by comparison to other products. However, quality does come at a price.

I like to be able to easily customize or modify my products that I’ve purchased. The fact that Apple makes it so difficult to make any kind of performance tweaks to their computers without completely disassembling them or jailbreaking the iPhones is quite bothersome.

My List of Purchased Apple Products

In the 20 plus years that I’ve been an Apple user, I have spent quite a bit of money buying Apple products. My list is below in no particular order.

  • iPad 2
  • iPad Mini
  • iPod (1st Generation)
  • iPod (5th Generation)
  • iPod Shuffle
  • iPod Shuffle (3rd Generation)
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 5
  • Macbook Pro G4
  • PowerMac G4 with Cinema Display
  • iMac 21.5″
  • MacBook Air
  • iTunes / AppStore Purchases (Way too many)

As you can see, you may say that I have an affinity for Apple products having patronized the company for many years. While I’d like to say that I’m going to stop, as long as they continue to produce items that enrich my life, function well, and look beautiful, I’m going to have a hard time quitting cold turkey. Unless my wife tell me no, then that’s another conversation.

So what say you? Are you and Apple user? How many products of theirs have you purchased over the years? Do you have a favorite?
